Seetage sind Tage der Erholung und eine besondere Herausforderung für die Reiseleitung an Bord, da jede Minute des Tage geplant wird und man versucht, allen Interessen und Altersgruppen gerecht zu werden. O habe ich mir heute einen wirklich interessanten Vortrage über Papua Neuguinea (PNG) und seinen 840 unterschiedlichen Sprachen angehört. Eine Gruppe von ca. 100 Menschen dort sprechen deutsch. Sie sind Nachfahren der deutschen Besatzung und Kolonialzeit unter Kaiser Wilhelm.

Unter den Passagieren ist auch Peter Leissl, ein Sportreporter des ZDF, der heute mit dem Entertainment Manager Rainer Groeber einen Sport-Talk gemacht hat.

Ein Seetag bedeutet auch weniger Fotos. Deshalb möchte ich einmal auf die ausgezeichnete Küche an Bord der MS Artania eingehen.

Es sind 3 Restaurants verfügbar: das Vier Jahreszeiten und Restaurant Artania mit einem Essen a´ la carte und das Lido Restaurant mit Buffet. Gila und ich gehen überwiegend im Artania und Vier Jahreszeiten essen, weil dort die angebotenen Speisen - und vor allen Dingen deren Darbietung und Präsentation – sehr schön ist.

Heute nachmittag wird ein Chor der Passagiere gebildet. Ich werde mich auch anmelden.

Mit dem Gitarristen der Spirit Band, einem in Hamburg lebenden Ungarn mit Vornamen Jozef, haben wir uns angefreundet und werden auch weiterhin Kontakt halten mit ihm. Für meine Musikerfreunde: Er spielt die Steve Lukather Gitarre von Music Man und ist ein begnadeter Gitarrist.

Heute ist wieder ein Gala Abend. Wenn ich ehrlich sein soll, nicht so mein Ding. Wieder Anzug bzw. Smoking Pflicht. Erträglich in den klimatisierten Räumen, unerträglich draussen bei 28 Grad und hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit. Gila sagt aber: „Da musst Du durch“ und irgendwie gehört es auch dazu.

The weather today is 28 degrees Centigrade and 80% humidity. We can see dark rain clouds at the horizon but the captain tries to avoid them. With success so far.

Today is sea day and always a special challenge for the tour management, because every minute of the days must be planned to meet the different passenger interests and requirements.

Today I attended a presentation about Papua New Guinea (PNG) and it's 840 different languages. Nearly every tribe on the 2^nd largest island of the world has its own language. One of these languages is German still spoken by a group of 100 people, descendants of the German colonial era during the days of Kaiser Wilhelm.

A sea day also means only few photos, hence a good chance to say a few words about the excellent cuisine aboard MS Artania.

There are three restaurant. 2 with service and `a la carte and a buffet restaurant. We normally go to the services restaurant, where you can make your choice between different appetizers, 4 main courses and several desserts.

Here's what we had yesterday. The main course was Tuna, that the chef bought at the Ternate market.

This afternoon a passenger choir is founded and I want to be a member of it.

The Spirit Band is a Hungarian band where the guitar player lives in Hamburg and we have become friends here aboard. For the music interested reader: he plays a Music Man Steve Lukather signature guitar and is an excellent player. We still stay in touch in the future.

Tonight we have another Gala Evening where suits, smoking are the dressing code. Not my thing – to be honest. One can do this in air conditioned rooms but it gets difficult in 28 degrees and high humidity. However my lovely wife Gila says: ”Take it as it is, it only makes you stronger”. Well said. But somehow this dressing code belongs to a cruise, isn't it?

Tomorrow we have another sea day and cross the Arufa sea.
