Gestern war ein
ruhiger Seetag. Kein Wind, blauer Himmel und wieder über 30 Grad.
Also eigentlich alles bestens.

Leider nicht. Gila ist krank geworden
und sie hat den ganzen Tag das Bett gehütet. Wie viele andere an
Bord hat sie sich eine ziemlich schlimme Erkältung geholt. Sie war
im Bordhospital in Behandlung und ich hoffe, dass sie bis Sydney
wieder rauf den Beinen ist.
Heute sind wir in
Cairns, der Stadt am Great Barrier Reef. Ein grosser Teil der
Passagiere macht einen Ausflug dorthin. Einige gehen von Bord und
fliegen nach Alice Springs, um den Ayers Rock zu besuchen und kommen
an Sydney wieder an Bord.
Zirka 180 Leute
haben die Weltreise gebucht und sind am 21. Dezember 2017 in
Marseille an Bord gegangen und werden am 6. Mai ihre Reise in
Bremerhaven beenden.

Wir haben noch genau
6 Tage und wir verlassen das Schiff in Sydney.
Heute morgen mussten
wir durch die australische Zollkontrolle, die sehr streng ist. Es
dürfen keinerlei organische (tierische oder pflanzliche), Getränke
etc. an Land gebracht werden, damit die einmalige australische Flora
und Fauna nicht beschädigt wird. Zu viele fremde Tiere sind bereits
eingeführt worden und haben sich hier vermehrt, weil keine
Fressfeinde für sie hier sind (Dingos, Kamele, Kröten etc.).
Gila bleibt auch
heute wieder an Bord. Den morgigen Ausflug in Townsville wird sie
wohl auch nicht mitmachen. Es geht ihr überhaupt nicht gut.
Ich bin heute morgen
zur ESPLANADE und zur Lagoon, dem grossen, offenen Freibad gegangen.
War irgendwie ein Heimspiel, den vor 3,5 Jahren waren wir ja schon
einmal hier und wir werden auch am 28. Februar wieder hier sein für
10 Tage.

Es ist drückend
heiß mit gefühlten 38 Grad und ich bin nach 2 Stunden vollkommen
durchgeschwitzt wieder an Bord zurück.

Yesterday
we had a sea day with a very calm sea, blue skies and beautiful
weather. However, Gila is sick. She has caught a terrible cold and
spent all day in bed after visiting the ship hospital.
Hopefully
she will recover before we are in Sydney.
Today
we had to go through customs control which took some time for roughly
1200 people, because some of the crew members also disembarked the
ship.
Gila
didn't feel to join me for a walk through Cairns. She will stay in
bed again.
We have
been to Cairns during our last visit in Australia and we are looking
forward to coming here again on February 28 for a 10 days stay.
A great
part of the passenger are making an excursion to a platform on the
Great Barrier Reef, some leave the ship for a 4 days excursion to
Alice Springs and Ayers Rock. They 'll come back to the ship in
Sydney.
Nearly
180 passengers have booked the world tour. Some of them came on board
in Hamburg (December 1st 2017), the majority in Marseille
on December 21, 2017. The tour ends May 6 2018 in Bremerhaven. Must
be a great, but also a rather expensive experience.
It is
really hot and humid here in Cairns. We have 38 degrees Centigrade
and I was totally sweat wet after my 2 hours walk to the Esplanade
and Lagoon, the large open air swimming pool.
Gila
will stay on board but I will leave for another walk this afternoon.
All
passengers on board is at 6.30 pm and we leave Cairns for Townsville
around 8 pm.
