From 12 degrees to 33 degrees

Heute morgen wurden die Koffer gepackt und Horst und Ewald haben uns zum Flughafen von Canberra gefahren. Das Wetter ist gut, sonnig aber mit 12 Grad sehr frisch. Im Gegensatz zum Bahnhof ist der Flughafen nagelneu und hochmodern. Um 12.25 Uhr sind wir mit Virgin Australia nach Brisbane geflogen und von dort nach Cairns, wo wir gegen 16.30 Uhr ankamen.

33 Grad und ein angenehmer warmer Wind. Wir haben uns ein Taxi genommen und sind ins Pacific Hotel an der Esplanade gefahren, haben unser Zimmer bezogen, uns frisch gemacht und dann einen Bummel durch das lebhafte Cairns gemacht.

Um halb sieben ist es hier bereits dunkel. Nach einem Abendessen bei einem Italiener sind wir aufs Zimmer gegangen.

We packed our suitcases this morning. The weather is sunny but cold, only 12 degrees centigrade. Horst and Ernie took us to the airport of Canberra. The airport has been opened in 2013 and is modern and state-of-the-art – the direct opposite to the railway station. Virgin Australia left the airport at 12.25 with destination Brisbane where we changed planes to Cairns.

33 degrees centigrade and a nice warm wind. We took a taxi to the Pacific Hotel right at the Esplanade, Cairns.

Nothing planned for tonight except having dinner at an Italian restaurant.

We call it a day. The adventure will start tomorrow.
