Berlin ist eine Reise wert

Die diesjährige Frühjahrstagung der IBM Anwendergruppe „z/VSE, z/VM, Linux on z“ der GSE (Guide Share Europe) fand im Westin Grand Hotel in Berlin statt.

Seit 28 Jahren bin ich ohne Unterbrechung Teilnehmer an dieser Veranstaltung. Sowohl als „aktiver“ Teilnehmer als auch als „passiver“ Teilnehmer. Dieses Jahr war es eine passive Teilnahme.

Berlin ist immer wieder ein toller Veranstaltungsort. Das Westin Grand ist auf der Friedrichstraße in unmittelbarer Nähe des Brandenburger Tores und des Regierungsgeländes.

Neben interessanten Informationen seitens der IBM über neue Hardware- und Software-entwicklungen gab es auch einen Vortrag eines Kunden von mir.

Highlight war die Stadtrundfahrt mit einer echten Berliner Schnauze. Peter Lucas (http://www.berliner-schnauze.de/Alternative-Stadtrundfahrt,Ueber-mich.htm) hat uns über 90 Minuten mit seiner frechen Berliner Art seine Stadt nähergebracht.

Berlin ist immer eine Reise wert.

Berlin is worth a visit

Berlin was home of the annual spring conference of the GSE working group „z/VSE, z/VM and Linux on z“. The conference took place at the Westin Grand Hotel at the famous Friedrichstraße in the close neighborhood of the „Berliner Tor“.

I am an active and passive participant of this conference for the last 28 years.

In addition to interesting news from IBM about their new hardware and software one of my customers also gave a presentation at the conference.

A highlight was the city tour with a real Berliner. Peter Lucas (http://www.berliner-schnauze.de/Alternative-Stadtrundfahrt,Ueber-mich.htm) gave us an interesting insight of Berlin history. His Berlin dialect was fun to listen to.
