Ålesund – die Jugendstilstadt – the Art Nouveau City

Der 2. Tag.

Gut geschlafen. Die See war ruhig und in der Nacht haben wir 2 Häfen angelaufen: Florø und Måløy. Der Morgen brachte bereits die erste Überraschung: ein brennender Himmel.

Das Licht hier in Norwegen ist einzigartig. Das haben wir bereits auf unserer ersten Hurtigrutenreise im Sommer 2010 kennengelernt: die Mitternachtssonne.

Jetzt das Gegenteil. Um 9 Uhr noch dämmrig aber die Sonne schaut hinter den Bergwipfeln hervor. Also Kamera her und Bilder schiessen.

Flames 

Der erste Tageshafen heute ist Torvik, eine Stadt mit ca. 8000 Einwohnern. Der Aufenthalt war nur eine Stunde.

Um 12 Uhr legten wir in Ålesund an. Die Stadt wurde im Januar 1904 durch einen Brand vollkommen zerstört. Mit Hilfe des deutschen Kaisers Wilhelm wurde sie von norwegischen Architekten zwischen 1904 und 1907 im Jugendstil aufgebaut. Ein echtes Kleinod. Gila hat die 3 Stunden Aufenthalt zum Shoppen genutzt und ich habe das Atlantic Aquarium und den Hausberg Mount Aksla besucht.

Sonnenuntergang war gegen 15 Uhr.

Jetzt geht es heute noch weiter bis Molde, der Rosenstadt. Der Beiname kommt daher, da hier auf Grund des relativ milden Klimas noch Rosen wachsen, die eigentlich weiter südlich ihre Wachstumsgrenze haben.

Beim heutigen Abendessen werden Gila und ich unseren 14. Hochzeitstag feiern.

Weitere Häfen sind Kristiansund kurz vor Mitternacht.

Morgen sind wir in Trondheim und Rørvik, der Polarkreis kommt näher.

The 2^nd day.

We had a good sleep. The sea was calm and no waves. During the night we passed two harbors: Florø und Måløy.

Shortly after sunrise we had a beautiful sky. Time to get up and make some photos before breakfast.

The first stop todays has been Torvik, a town with approx. 8000 inhabitants.

At 12 o'clock we reached Ålesund, a beautiful city with an Art Nouveau architecture. Reason being the city totally burnt down in 1904 and with the help of the German Kaiser Wilhelm it was rebuilt by young Norwegian architects in different Art Nouveau flavors.

Gila used the 3 hours to do some shopping and I went on an excursion to the Atlantic Aquarium and Mount Askla. From here we had a great overview over the city and surrounding fjords.

Sunset today was 3 pm.

Our next stop will be Molde, the city of roses. Normally roses don't grow that high in the north but Molde's climate is influenced by the gulf stream.

Gila and I will celebrate our 14^th wedding anniversary at tonight's dinner.

The last stop for today is Kristiansund, shortly before midnight.

Tomorrows attraction is the city of Trondheim, weher we have a 6 hour stop. Second harbor tomorrow is Rørvik.

We're getting closer to the Polar Circle.
