Ab und an haben wir Glück mit dem
Wetter hier im Norden der Republik. Heute war so ein Tag. Die Sonne
schien bei 19 Grad, der frische Spargel war am Morgen auf dem
Spargelhof geholt und wir haben uns überlegt, was wir mit dem
schönen Tag machen können.
Da unser Nachbar – Fürst Bismarck –
nicht sehr weit von uns seine Residenz hat, sind wir dorthin
gefahren. Genauer gesagt zum Garten der Schmetterlinge in
Friedrichsruh. Neben dem Bismarck Museum, dem Eisenbahnmuseum und dem
Bismarck Mausoleum ein Anziehungspunkt für viele Menschen an einem
so schönen Tag wie heute. An und für sich wollten wir nur etwas
spazieren gehen in Friedrichsruh und im Cafe Vanessa der Bismarcks
einen Kaffee trinken. Allerdings muss man den Garten der
Schmetterlinge eintrittsmäßig betreten, um das Cafe besuchen zu
dürfen.
Hat sich mal wieder gelohnt. Das
Schmetterlingshaus ist einen Besuch wert. Schmetterlinge aller Art,
Zwergwachteln, Riesen Kois und „Puppen“stuben lohen den kleinen
Obulus. Ganz zu schweigen vom Cafe und seinem leckeren Kuchen.

Nach dem Spaziergang durch den Park und
auf die Schloßteichinsel sind wir noch in Richtung Geesthacht
gefahren und von dort über die B5 nach Lauenburg. Die kleine Stadt
an der Elbe hat eine sehr schöne Altstadt und dort beginnt der
Elbe-Lübeck-Kanal, über den wir am 3. Juni nach Mölln schippern
werden. Da lag es auf der Hand, sich mit den Örtlichkeiten bereits
vertraut zu machen.

Sometimes we are lucky
here in the northern part of Germany as far as the weather is
concerned. Today was such a lucky day with sun and 19 degrees
centigrade. This morning I bought fresh white asparagus and we
decided to do something with this great day.
Time to visit our the
premises of the Duke of Bismarck – in our neighbor hood. The
Bismarck family is living there and in addition to the historic
places like the Bismarck Museum, the Bismarck Railway Museum and the
Bismarck Mausoleum the family also entertains a Garden of Butterflies
with a nice little Cafe. The Cafe was our place of interest but to
visit it you also have to enjoy the Garden and the Butterflies.
We had a great time. It is
amazing to walk between all kinds of butterflies, little quails,
giant Kois and the „pupa“ rooms where you see the birth of the
butterflies. Nevertheless the coffee and cake was excellent at Cafe
Vanessa.
After our walk through the
park we decided to drive to the river Elbe, namely the town of
Lauenburg. Lauenburg has a very nice old town and from here the
Elbe-Lübeck channel goes north. We will do a little cruise on the
channel in June and we took the opportunity to see where the ship
will be moored.
