Down Under – Sydney – Samstag, 24. Februar 2018

Unser letzter Tag in Sydney. Heute heisst es wieder Koffer packen und morgen geht es südöstlich nach Canberra, der Hauptstadt von Australien.

Am heutigen Tag hatten wir ein Versprechen einzulösen: ein T-Shirt aus dem Hard Rock Cafe Sydney zu besorgen. Das HRC liegt in Darling Harbour, einem sehr schönen Teil Sydneys. Es war sehr viel los, da heute Drachenbootrennen ausgetragen wurden.

Nach einer Mittagspause sind wir dann mit der Fähre nach Manly gefahren. Wir haben uns sehr auf diesen Ausflug gefreut, da wir 2014 am letzten Tag unserer Reise dort waren und wir den Charm von Manly und das tolle Restaurant „The Bavarian“ genossen haben.

Davon war heute leider nichts zu spüren. Zu viele Menschen, ein irrer Lärm und das Restaurant war total überfüllt, ds Essen allerdings war immer noch sehr gut.

Es ist ein Unterschied, ob man Anfang November – wie in 2014 – dort ist oder mitten in der Hochsaison im Februar.

Down Under – Sydney – Saturday, February 24, 2018

Our last day in Sydney. Tonight we need to pack our luggage and tomorrow we will take the train to Canberra, the Australian capital.

2 items were on today's agenda:

1. Finding the Sydney Hard Rock Cafe to buy a T shirt for the son of my best friend. The HRC happens to be at Darling Harbour, one of the nicest places of Sydney. A lot of people were there because of the dragon boat races that took place in the harbor.

2. Taking the ferry to Manly. We were looking forward to this trip because we spent out last day of our visit in 2014 at Manly. What a charming place with a beautiful beach and a nice restaurant called “The Bavarian”. This was in November 2014. Low, very low tourist season.

Today Manly was no fun at all. Overcrowded by people, too much noise, no charm at all. The restaurant was so full that it took some time to get seated. However, the food was still good.

BTW, another cruise ship hast berthed at the Circular Quay: her Majesty Queen Mary 2
